Let me show you how to end your speech with power, purpose, and presence.
✅ 1️⃣ End with a Powerful Hook
Just as you began your speech with an attention-grabbing hook, you should close with something that reinforces your message and leaves a lasting impression.
Great closing hooks include:
- 💡 A thought-provoking quote
- 📖 A short story or allegory
- 🧠 A proverb or a wisdom nugget
Example:
“There’s a Swahili proverb that says, ‘Little by little, a little becomes a lot.’ So start small—but start today.”
🎯 Make sure it connects back to your central theme. This creates emotional closure and a sense of completion.

❌ What You Should NEVER Say at the End of a Speech
Here are the phrases that weaken your delivery and leave your audience underwhelmed:
🚫 “That’s it.”
🚫 “I’m done.”

🚫 “So yeah… thank you.”
These endings signal a lack of confidence or preparation—even if your speech was great up to that point.
