Today I watched Part 3 of Myron Golden’s Wealth Creation Series, titled “The Most Valuable Skill in the World.”
Interestingly, this part wasn’t on YouTube or Facebook like the others — it was tucked away on his blog, which says a lot. Myron clearly treats his blog as a core platform for deeper, intentional content (and probably for building email leads too).
But what blew me away wasn’t where the video was — it was what it taught:
🧨 Selling is the highest value skill in the world.
Yes — selling.
👀 Why That Statement Feels Uncomfortable for So Many
Let’s be honest. Just hearing the word sales often brings up negative feelings.
Why?
Myron suggests 3 main reasons:
- Negative childhood experiences — Maybe someone we loved got scammed or pressured into buying.
- Media programming — Salespeople are often portrayed as sleazy or manipulative.
- Personal discomfort — We hate being pressured, and most bad salespeople rely on pressure tactics because they don’t actually know how to sell.
So we end up rejecting the very skill that can transform our lives — all because of past programming.
💡 Why Selling Is the Most Valuable Skill
Here’s the case Myron makes:
💬 “The only reason you, me, or anyone has money is because somebody somewhere sold something to someone.”
Let that sink in.
- If you work for a company — you’re paid from revenue.
- If you work for government — you’re paid from taxes, which come from people who made money by selling something.
👉 No one gets paid until something is sold.
That alone should make us rethink how we view selling.
He goes further to say:
“Selling creates good feelings — the feeling of satisfaction, joy, safety, prestige, or transformation.”
Think back to the first car you bought, or a pair of shoes that made you feel like you again. We don’t just buy products — we buy feelings.
🔥 So What Is Selling… Really?
First, let’s clarify what selling is NOT:
❌ It’s not talking people into buying what they don’t want, don’t need, and can’t afford.
✅ Instead:
“Selling is uncovering the value of what you have to offer so well that people are willing to exchange their money for that value.”
That definition resonated deeply with me.
It reminded me of something I often teach:
“Before you launch anything, ask:
- What problem am I solving?
- Who has this problem?
- Are they willing solve it?
- Can they afford to solve at the set price?”
That’s value-based selling. And it’s a skill every coach, entrepreneur, and knowledge-based business owner must master.
💥 Extra Lessons I Picked Up
Myron didn’t just teach — he modelled how to use content to sell without pressure:
- He offered a free video (The History & Mystery of Money) as a lead magnet, requiring just a name and email.
- He always made it clear: “I’m not here to sell you anything in this video.”
- He invited viewers to comment, like, and share, promising to personally respond to questions.
This was a brilliant combination of:
✅ Value-first content
✅ Trust-building
✅ Organic lead generation
🎯 Final Word: Don’t Run From Sales — Master It
If you’re building a knowledge-based business or dreaming of monetising your expertise, here’s the truth:
📈 The better you get at selling, the more impact and income you’ll create.
Most people avoid sales. But business owners are desperate for people who can confidently communicate value and bring in clients. They’ll pay top dollar — often with no cap — to those who can do that.
So don’t run from selling. Learn it. Master it. Lead with it.
